Obituary for Michael J Bushey

MICHAEL J BUSHEY,
HUDSON.
Michael J Bushey, 71, died peacefully with his wife Kelly, of 29 years, by his side, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bangor on October 17, 2021, after a brief illness. He was born on May 7, 1950, to Bernard and Marion (Wentworth) Bushey of Portland.
Michael was a 1968 graduate of Deering High School in Portland, and in 1969, joined the US Air Force, serving as Military Police at Loring Air Force Base. He served two tours in Vietnam, and was awarded several medals for his service. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1973. He was a very proud Veteran, later on deemed disabled.
On February 9, 1977, Michael was blessed with twin boys, Paul Joseph and Sean Michael with his former wife, Peggy Willett. In 1988, he met the love of his life, Kelly, and they made their home in Hudson with her two children: Eryne Joyce and Christopher Neil, whom he considered his own. On August 11, 1991, their son Evan Lloyd was born to them, and afterwards they married in September of 1992. Michael’s life was enriched further, when his granddaughter Savanna Kelly, became a permanent member of the household in Fall of 2019.
Michael worked several jobs over the course of his life, his favorite being a delivery driver for Schwan’s Home Delivery Service. He loved his customers as well as his coworkers. When a seizure forced him to leave, he worked at the Bangor Wal-Mart until he retired in 2015.
Surviving in addition to his wife Kelly (Nisbett) Bushey, are his sons, Paul Bushey and wife Debbie of Mapleton, Sean Bushey also of Mapleton, and Evan Bushey of Hudson; two step-children Eryne West of Hermon and Christopher McArthur of Hudson; 8 grandchildren; two brothers Timothy and his wife Linda of Buxton and Tom Bushey of Parsonsfield; one sister Peggy Sloan of Westbrook; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Michael was predeceased by a brother, Bill Bushey.
