Obituary for Maurice D. Kinney

HOWLAND – Maurice D. Kinney, 83, passed away peacefully at his home December 27, 2021, with his loving family and his faithful dog, Rusty, by his side. He was born October 3, 1938, in Danforth, the son of Lucinda Walsh.

Maurice spent his early years in Danforth, before beginning his trade as a hand-sewer in Bangor. He perfected his trade over the course of fifty years. He was selected by Ansewn Shoe to go to China and Singapore to demonstrate his craft to the employees of Nordstrom. His favorite pastime was relaxing in his chair, in his garage, with his best friend, Rusty.

Surviving are his loving wife of 29 years, Brenda (Milton) Kinney; children, Robin and her husband, Bill Kespert, Shawn Kinney, Gary Kinney and his wife, Cheryl, and Scott Kinney; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; step-children, Robert Reed and his wife, Carrie, Troy Reed and his wife, Sue, Douglas Reed and his wife, Deborah; step-grandchildren, Katlyn and Christopher; great-step-grandchildren, Michael, Patrick, Christopher; and a special great-granddaughter, Rylee, with whom he formed a very strong bond; siblings, Ruth, Nancy and Charles. In addition to his mother, Maurice was predeceased by his loving, adoptive parents, James and Margaret (McGlinchey) Kinney; sons, Maurice and Stephen Kinney; grandson, Thomas Kinney; step-son, Brian Reed; step-grandson, Brandon Reed; sisters, Eleanor and Nina; and brothers, Ralph, Earl, and Richard.
In honoring Maurice’s request, there will be no services.
