Obituary for Marylene Keogh (Dube)

OLD TOWN - Marylene (Dube) Dufresne Keogh, 79, was reunited with the Heavenly Father, her parents, and other family members after a short battle with Stage 4 lung cancer, August 1, 2022. She was born June 6, 1943, in Eagle Lake, the sixth of eight children to Robert Dube and Clara (Guidmond) Dube.

Marylene would move to Waterbury, Connecticut with her mother and other siblings in 1959. She married Robert Dufresne in 1963 and had two children with him, son, Shane Dufresne and daughter, Nicole Marie Dufresne-Ferree. After her divorce from Robert, she married James Keogh in 1975, to whom she has since been married. She worked at a variety of jobs during her life. She retired from the City of Waterbury in 2000.
After retiring, Marylene and James moved to Maine with Nicole and her children, where she enjoyed retirement life. She excelled at spoiling her children when they were growing up but she took it to a whole new level as a grandmother and great grandmother, whom all affectionately called her “Me Me”.

Growing up in Northern Maine helped develop Marylene’s work ethic, which was second to none. She would out work co-workers half her age and never seem to tire. She took great pride in having an immaculately clean house and manicured yard. If you stopped over to the house, she could be found either working inside or out, and wouldn’t necessarily stop to chit-chat.

Marylene loved country music, 50’s and 60’s music, Elvis Presley and collecting a variety of knick-knacks. She was also an avid animal lover. Over the years a number of dogs and cats were a part of the family.
In addition to her husband and children, Marylene is survived by her sisters, Doris Fournier and Jenette Talbot; grandchildren, Courtney Dufresne and her fiancé, Shayne Boutin, Brandon Dufresne and his wife, Britni, Drew Dufresne, Briana Dufresne, Matthew Dufresne, Dustin Broome, Levi Broome; great-grandchildren, Ryker Boutin and Wyllow Boutin; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Norman Dube, Leonard Dube and Bobby “Hamphy” Dube; sisters, Maxine LaFrance and Laurina Brown.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, August, 12, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Eagle Lake. There will a small gathering at 2:00 p.m., at Swamp Buck Restaurant, 250 W Main St, Fort Kent, following the graveside. Those who wish to remember Marylene is a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt. Hope Avenue Bangor, ME 04401.
