Obituary for Lorraine L. Dumont
BANGOR - Lorraine L Dumont, 84, died at home on Thursday, December 16, 2021, with her daughter by her side, after a short battle with cancer. Lorraine was born October 27, 1937, in Augusta, the daughter of Fernand G. and Rose B. (Veilleux) Belisle, and Albert (Jack) Giroux.
Lorraine worked as a dental assistant for years in Augusta and then at Togus, VA. She ended her career with the Postal Service in Waterville. In retirement she enjoyed Wintering in Florida with her sister, Nancy Beaudoin, playing cards with cousins, eating out, and the never-ending supply of books she could get from the library and on her Kindle. When her youngest grandson asked her what she wanted to be remembered for, she said “Books” of course! There’s no doubt her passion was reading. Lorraine loved her children and adored her grandsons and was able enjoy one final Christmas celebration with her immediate family prior to her passing.
Lorraine and her former husband (lifelong friend) Leo R. Dumont shared two children who survive her: Glenn L. Dumont and his wife, Doris L. (Dumas) of North Carolina, and Lynne M. Dumont and her partner, Daniel G. Gagnon of Orono. Surviving, in addition to her children, are three grandsons, Zacharie Dumont and his wife, Renee (Beaulieu) of North Carolina, Joshua Dumont of Florida, and Noah Murphy of Bangor; one brother, Nelson Belisle of Portland, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Giroux of Florida; her sister, Nancy Beaudoin of Augusta, and a child who died at birth, Theresa Ann Dumont.
At Lorraine’s request, no services will be held.
