Lawrence Arthur Burns passed away peacefully on October 12, 2021, with his loving wife, Marjorie, by his side at Maine Medical Center following a period of declining health. He was born on January 21, 1935, in Orono, Maine, the son of Edward T. and Harriet (Taylor) Burns.
Lawrence’s employment history notably included service with the U.S. Air Force retiring in 1973 after 20 years. His service included duty in Greenland, Thailand and Vietnam.
In addition to his parents, and several siblings, he was predeceased by a son, Larry A. Burns, Jr. Surviving Lawrence is his loving wife, Marjorie (Luce) Burns, his daughters, Amanda Burns and Deborah Burns Giguere, stepchildren Terry Knowles, Michele Bowden, Kimberly Tibbetts, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and by one sister Arlene Ireland.
A graveside service with military honors will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Orono, Maine, on Wednesday , October 20, 2021, at noon.
