Obituary for John Wellington McDonald

EDDINGTON – John Wellington McDonald II, 93, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2021, surrounded by his loving family in the home he built in Eddington, Maine. He was born November 29, 1927, in Eddington, ME the son of John W. and Lena A. (Libby) McDonald.
He is survived by three daughters, Heather McDonald and Cindy McDonald of Eddington ME, Robin (McDonald) and his son-in-law Greg Fish of MT Vernon ME, his son John McDonald III of Eddington ME, his grandchildren Nicholas, Krystle, Anthony, Jason, David, Tina, Ryan, Mia, Meghan, His great grandchildren Adam, Alivia, Levon, Ethan, Christian, Atianna, Maksmillan, and Leonadis, His half-brother Charles and Susie (Foster Grover, and their family. His uncle Wilbur and many other relatives. He is predeceased by his father John W McDonald, mother Lena (Libby) McDonald Grover, ex-wife and mother of his children Shirley (Collins) McDonald, and his daughter Julie McDonald.
John graduated from Brewer High School, class of 1946, served in the US Army as a recoilless rifleman, attended Higgins Classical Institute, University of Maine Orono, was a member of American Legion, Anah Shriners Temple and RJP Masonic Lodge #217. He was Pipefitter and Engineer for Cianbro for many years, retiring in 2004.
John was an avid sportsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He spent many years hunting and fishing at his camp in the Allagash and then his camp at Upper Lead Mountain Pond. He also enjoyed 4 wheeling, snowmobiling, camping, and boating with his family and friends.

John will always be fondly remembered for sharing his love of the outdoors, fishing and hunting skills, with all those he knew and even those he did not know.
There will be a celebration of life on Sunday December 5, 2021, at the Eddington Salmon Club, 25 Main Rd., Eddington ME Between the hours of 12pm and 3pm. Graveside internment will be held in June or July of 2022 at Meadowbrook Cemetery.
