Obituary for Jean M. Southard (Lorom)
FRANKFORT - Jean Marie Lorom Southard, 73, passed away unexpectedly at her home November 25, 2022. She was born May 20, 1949, in Dixmont, Maine, one of five children born to Willard “Bill” Lorom and Alberta (Tibbetts) Lorom.
Jean attended schools in Dixmont, and graduated from Hermon High School, Class of 1969. She attended Beal College, studying medical assisting, and worked several years as a medical assistant at the Bangor Family Medicine practice.
Jean married Dana Southard, of Bangor, June 20, 1970, and settled in the Hampden area. Their son, David, was born in 1971. In 1979, the family moved to Frankfort. Dana passed away January 9, 2017.
Jean was devoted to her family, and enjoyed crafting, scrapbooking, and motorcycle trips with Dana. She was particularly close to her son, David and her grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Southard. Jean was particularly pleased to have the opportunity to travel to Hawaii with Joyce, Alfreda, Ardis, and her brother Allen, bringing closeness back to the family.
In addition to her husband, Jean was predeceased by two of her four siblings, Allen Lorom, and Alfreda Hansen. She is survived by her son, David; her grandchildren; sisters, Ardis Holt and Joyce Jewell; and by several nieces and nephews.
A gathering celebrating Jean’s life will take place 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the Frankfort Congregational Church, 42 South Main Street, in Frankfort, Maine.
