Obituary for Harold Mower

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a husband, a dad, a papa and a brother following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Brewer to George Richardson and H. Elizabeth (Vickery) Mower. He was the youngest of ten children. He graduated from Bangor High School and married Claudette (Mathison) Mower, the love of his life and partner of 60 years. He was a hard-working man who retired from Pine Tree Waste in 2019 as a heavy equipment operator. Harold was also a 20-year volunteer of the Dexter Fire Department.
Harold was an avid hunter, fisherman, Red Sox and Patriots fan. He loved country music and dancing, but don’t ask him to sing. He enjoyed many summers at Jenkins Beach on Green Lake with family and friends. He was best known for his kindness and compassionate nature towards others and his great sense of humor.
Harold is survived by his wife Claudette. His daughters Lori Whitney, Beverly and her husband David Belcher, Holly and her husband Kyle Murdock and his “adopted” son Robert Simmons. His grandchildren Robbie Whitney, Marissa and her husband Andrew Murray, Emily and her husband Dylan Andrews, Mathison Deering, Chloe Murdock and “adopted” granddaughter Jessica Simmons. His siblings Emily Doble, Priscilla and her husband Al Hodsdon, Carilyn and her husband Herb Doane and Martin Mower. Special sister-in-law Marilyn and her husband Al Boone as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, mother-in-law Doris Page, siblings Dexter, George, Donald, Charlie and Frank.
Services will be announced at a later date. Those who wish to make a donation in his name, may make them to Ripley United Methodist Church c/o Nancy Hoskins, 2 Denny Drive, Dexter, ME 04930.
