Obituary for Gloria Lee

GLORIA M. LEE
BANGOR
Gloria M. Lee, wife of the late Earl E. Lee for 60 years, passed away on November 11, 2021. She was born on April, 2, 1931, in Kingman, Maine, the youngest daughter of the late Raymond V. and Louise L. (Ryder) Moody. Following graduation from Brewer High School in 1948, she graduated from the Eastern Maine General Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. In 1954, she completed her clinical training as an anesthetist and joined the anesthesia staff of Eastern Maine General in July of 1956. She was certified in 1967 as a graduate of the first class of the EMMC School of Anesthesia. She retired from Eastern Maine Medical in September of 1998, and went on to join the Spectrum Anesthesia Group at St. Joseph’s Hospital. After her retirement, she became a volunteer at the Leroy Smith School from 2002 to 2020. She and Earl adopted the school as one of their charities as they knew their donations were used directly for the students.
For the numerous financial donations to EMMC, Gloria and Earl were made members of the Charles Hamlin Society. She was active throughout her life in service to her community including a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, a CPR instructor and a member of the E.M.G.H-E.M.M.C. –Husson College Nurses Alumni Assoc., serving as treasurer from 1998 to 2010. She was a member of the senior citizens of Winterport and Hampden and served as the treasurer for the Hampden group for many years. She was very active with the Hampden Highlands United Methodist Church.
She will always be remembered for sharing her joy of knitting with many peoples and events.
She is survived by her son Earl(Rusty) of Newark, DE; her daughter, Debra Shannon of Woodbridge, VA; sister, Martha Worster of Winterport; grandson, Matthew Shannon of Boston, MA; granddaughters, Anna Marie Unger of Rochester NY, and Laura MacLeod of South Portland, ME; niece, Robin Pasternak of Orlando, FL; nephews, Michael and Allen Worster of Winterport; and many cousins.
Respecting her wishes, there will be no visiting hours. A Memorial Service will be held at the Hampden Highlands United Methodist Church, 44 Kennebec Rd, Hampden on Wednesday, November 17th at 11:00 am, with Rev. Spencer Shaw officiating. Her cremated remains will be placed in the mausoleum at Mt. Hope Cemetery next to Earl’s and her parents’.
