Obituary for Donald E Thomas

DONALD E. THOMAS
EDDINGTON
Donald, 75, has left his physical body on November 24th, 2021 to reunite with family and friends in spirit. He was born May 27th, 1946, in Belfast, Maine, the son of Clayton A and Pauline M(Phinney) Thomas. Both were there to welcome him home.
Don graduated from BAHS, Belfast, ME in 1964. He earned his Maine State Barbers license shortly after. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for seven years. He was stationed on two ships in Vietnam, including during the TET offensive. He served as the ship’s barber. When not cutting hundreds of men’s hair, he was chosen as a security guard by the ship’s captain who appreciated “A Navy boy from Maine who is a crack shot.” He was a 32nd degree Mason and an Anah Temple Shrine tramp clown, known as “Scruffy.” Don operated several traditional barber shops in his life, most recently, the Center Beauty and Barber shop in Bangor, Maine.
Don leaves behind his wife and best friend of 30 years, Elaine. Also, his daughter, Karen; step-daughter, Michelle; granddaughter, Mackenzie; step-grandchildren, Devon and Cheyenne; great-granddaughter, Kennedi; step-grandchildren, Zayden, Lola and Autumn; brother, Leroy and partner, Mary; nieces and nephew; and cousins. He had many co-workers and clients over the years, all of whom were his friends. Don was a true conversationalist, and loved meeting people and bringing laughter and love into people’s lives. He had a big heart. He will be sorely missed.
Don will receive full military and masonic honors on Saturday, December 11th @ 2pm, at the Belfast Masonic Hall, 12 Wight Street, Belfast, Maine.
